The Field Blend is an unusual blend of Shiraz, Grenache, Mataro, Ugni Blanc, Roussanne and Carignan, from a now-certified organic vineyard above the winery in the Clare Valley.

The vines (originally Cabernet) were planted back in 1976, then in 2015 Col and Jen grafted them over to this mad selection of red and white Rhone varieties. They picked the lot together, fermented them together and bottled the result after a nice sleep in old oak.

It’s a light but savoury red wine, with delicious bright red fruit, a hint of mint, and soft graphitey tannins. A strange yet lovely offering from this star Clare Valley producer.
